My name is Sophie and I am a Sociologist and Mother and my mission is to change how Motherhood is socially defined and experienced. The myth of perfect motherhood in our culture is pervasive and contributes to mothers experiencing guilt, shame, isolation and feelings of not being ‘enough’. The pressures, expectations, and workload that is placed on mothers’ shoulders is unsustainable and unnecessary.
My work makes visible and challenges these structures and ‘shoulds’ to support mothers in reclaiming a Motherhood of their own. I advocate for gentle and conscious parenting paradigms, believing that mothering is a powerful and transformative practice individually, within our families, and in the context of our broader social, political, and economic landscapes.
I host The Good Enough Mother podcast, offer online courses, offer individual consultations and one to one mentoring, and run my group - The Liberated Motherhood Membership, delivering weekly trainings and fortnightly Zoom calls to offer you support and a space to connect with like-minded women.
